Delia Owens

Kya Clark, also known as the “Marsh Girl” is an outsider to the villagers residing in Barkley Cove, a fishing village. The story takes place in two parallel time zones, 1950’s and 1969. On the first narrative, we get a closer glimpse in to Kya and her life, who even in challenging circumstances, lives the best possible way she can. She’s headstrong and unique and we all know how the majority of the society portrays or thinks about people different from the common crowd. On the other hand, in 1969, Chase Andrews, an important part of Barkley Cove village is found murdered. Of course, everyone’s first suspect is Kya!
This book had been in my TBR for long! Thanks to #bookstagram community I decided to finally read it and oh boy! It was a treat!! Also, this was my first ever audiobook and the experience was surreal! Through the audiobook and the writer’s words I was able to imagine the entire story playing in front of my eyes and felt like a spectator for the entire duration of the story. This story had me gripped and sitting on the edge trying to find more and more about Kya’s life! There will never be enough words to describe how amazing this book is and the sense of satisfaction that you feel after finishing it.
As Coco Channel says, “A girl should be two things, who and what she wants to be”, and Kya Clark shows this to her readers! This book is a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 book for me!
